Frequently Asked Questions
Do You Have Free Wi-Fi?
Yes we do! Just ask one of the baristas for the password when you arrive.
Where do I park?
Please refer to our parking information map on the contact page of this website.
What is Reserved Seating?
Steel City sells approximately 92 tickets per show. We have 40+ tables and 110 seats in the venue, situated in a
180-degree half circle around the stage. Steel City sells three types of tickets to our shows: General Admission,
Reserved Seating and Reserved Seating with Dinner Entrée. The Reserved Seating tickets have a $7 surcharge
added to the General Admission ticket price. Reserved seating is limited to the front 14 tables/35 seats closest to
the stage… the best seats in the house. Reserved Seating with Dinner Entree tickets have a $13 surcharge added to
the General Admission ticket price, are limited to the same seats as the Reserved Seating tickets and include one
discounted dinner entrée. Those who purchase Reserved Seating with Dinner Entrée tickets get one menu item of
their choice on the night of the show, as well as a great seat. If Reserved Seating is sold out, fear not; the General
Admission seats are still great seats, and you still get to sit at a table and enjoy a great dinner and drinks.
Can I Eat at Steel City ?
Always YES!!! Food is always available during our regular business hours. You may order food at any of our shows,
whether you have General Admission or Reserved Seating. However, please keep in mind that the kitchen closes
at approximately 9:30 pm on show nights and about 1 hour prior to closing on other days. Also, Steel City does not
allow patrons to bring in outside food or non-alcoholic beverages.
How do I order tickets to a show?
Tickets to all Steel City shows are available on this website under tickets at Steel City Coffee House during our
standard hours of operation, or by phone at 610-933-4043. Varying credit card processing fees may apply.
Why am I having trouble buying tickets online?
Steel City uses Ticket Turtle ticketing service. In order to avoid credit card fraud, Ticket Turtle maintains a very
high security protocol and sometimes this can cause complications in the ticket buying process. If any information
that you enter differs from what is on file with your credit card company or bank, your purchase will likely be
declined. The problem can be as simple as differences in letter case, so please be careful when entering your
information. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we believe that tight security is necessary to protect your
personal information. If you believe the information you entered is accurate and your purchase is still declined,
please feel free to purchase your tickets at Steel City Coffee House or by phone at 610-933-4043.
What if my receipt didn’t print or I lost it?
As long as you received a confirmation receipt, your tickets are on file at Steel City. We keep a master list of all
tickets purchased, so even if you lost or were unable to print your tickets, we’ve got your back.
What is your refund policy?
Like other live music venues, Steel City does not offer refunds for purchased tickets. If a show is canceled due to
inclement weather your tickets will be valid on the rescheduled date. If the show is not rescheduled, or at your
request, you will be given a full refund or store credit of the ticket price.
Are you BYOB?
Yes we are. We allow patrons to bring beer or wine to all our ticketed shows, unless otherwise noted. You must be
21 years of age or older with a valid ID. The fee is $3 per person on Wednesday nights and $4 per person all other
nights. We will be happy to open your bottles and provide glassware.
Can I give you $1000?
Why sure ya can, no problem!
Seriously though, keeping Steel City alive is difficult, and your support is crucial to our staying open and remaining
a vital part of the community. Becoming a member of the Steel City Band gets you great rewards and is also a
great way to help us continue to bring the Phoenixville and surrounding areas great music, food and culture.
Consider becoming a member today and visit our membership page for more information. Thank you!
How do I submit my music/band for a show at Steel City?
Steel City Coffee House has live shows Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and some Sunday nights. We book local acts
as well as acts from all over the world. Typically, we receive 50 or more requests for shows every week, so please,
before submitting your music for booking consideration, read and understand the following information:
Are you local?
Then skip the online booking submission. The very, VERY best way to get a gig at Steel City Coffee House is to come
and play at our Open Mic fairly regularly. Open Mic is every Thursday night from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and sign-up
begins at 6:30 pm. We accommodate full bands with drums, bass and guitar amps at the ready. Performing at our
Open Mic gives us a chance to see you perform and that is how we choose most of the local acts that we book. We
often have 3 – 4 weekend acts per month that got their start at our Open Mic. Attending and participating in our
Open Mic helps you to build a local crowd, and it shows us that you are serious about your music.
Are you not local or not available Thursday nights?
Steel City Coffee House accepts online booking submissions via our contact and booking page, but please be aware that
management does not have the time to reply to every submission that we receive. If we are interested in booking
your act we will contact you directly. However, professional follow-up is acceptable and encouraged.
Steel City Coffee House books acts that play original music of every genre and flavor. We ordinarily do not book
cover bands. We have an in-house sound system run by an in-house sound engineer. Steel City Coffee House
promotes the shows that we book, but we do not provide you an audience. If you are interested in booking a show
at Steel City Coffee House, you will be responsible for promoting the show and bringing people out. Unlike a bar,
we do not make our money selling alcohol; instead we make our money from ticket sales. Therefore, if you are
looking to book a show at Steel City Coffee House, you will need to provide a reasonable draw or WOW us at our
Open Mic (this happens fairly often, so do it if you can!). It’s not a hard and fast rule, but generally speaking, if you
cannot draw a crowd of 25 or more people and can’t attend the Open Mic from time to time, there may be better
options for your playing in the Philadelphia area at this time.
Steel City Coffee House follows a strict 30/30 policy with other Philadelphia area venues. This means if we book
you or your band, you cannot also play other venues within 30 days or 30 miles of your show at Steel City. These
venues include but are not limited to Chaplin’s The Music Cafe, Kennett Flash, World Café Live Philadelphia,
The Tin Angel and all Milkboy locations. Dividing the crowd between multiple venues hurts both the venues
and the artists. Some exceptions may apply, but any potential conflicts with this policy must be discussed with
management of both venues prior to confirming your gig.
With all that said, if you would like to be considered for a show at Steel City please include ALL of the following
information in your request on the contact and booking page:
Style of music, i.e., Folk, Reggae, Metal, etc. (the more specific the better).
Time frame you are looking to play.
How many people you can realistically draw (please don’t exaggerate).
Web link to your music/YouTube/Facebook, etc.
*Sorry if all of these rules and regulations are kind of a drag, but they are necessary in order for us to stay in
business. Ultimately, we want to do right by ourselves, our patrons and the artists we work with and we do
appreciate your understanding.
What do I do if I get booked?
But also, please download the “Artists Rider” on the contact & bookings page. On it you will find all the necessary info, terms and requirements for having a stellar show at Steel City. Read the instructions and fill it out as requested, and then get ready for a fun night.
